I. About the Novel

This book is Jane Austin's second novel novel　published in 1813.

This novel is the story of the five sisters of the Bennett family.

The story begins at a country town Longbourn where a single assetman Bingly came.

The second daughter Elizabeth of Bennett and Bingley's friend Darcy are disturbed by　misunderstanding and prejudice and are attracted to each other while conflicting.

Ironically, he draw a figure of people who are fighting the big riot of Tanya around each marriage etc.

This novel describes the British social background of those days.

In England in the 18th century, few women have self-savvy occupations, and finding a good marriage partner was regarded as a woman 's happiness.

It is difficult for women with low heritage and dowry to find a good marriage partner, but if you can not get married, you have to live as a single woman of family climate for the rest of your life.

For this reason, marriage was a much more serious problem than in the present age.

II. About the Author

He set a stage in a middle-class society in the country from the 18th century to the 19th century England, wrote a novel with irony and affection about women's private life centering on marriage.

His work is regarded as the top of modern English novels.

It is also known to contribute greatly to the development of free indirect talking in English (depiction talking method).

The main works are "Separation and Prestige", "Pride and Prejudice", "Emma", "Mansfield Park", "North Sanger Monastery" and "Persuasion".

All 6 works of Austin 's works depict mediocrity events in rural areas.

The range of subjects sought is quite narrow, and the six characters are characters and daughters of the famous family, gentlemen, such as pastors and soldiers, and this men and women get married after a twist and turn, and then it ends.However, Austin himself stated that if there are 3 or 4 families in the countryside it is a perfect material for the novel, but the human class there has been thoroughly drawn, showing the immutability of human nature, psychological realities. III. Versions of the Novel in the Mass Media

"Pride and prejudice" is the work most often to be taken up, and as of 2005, six movies are being produced.Recently coach Joe Wright, produced in 2005, there is a movie "Pride and Prejudice" starring Keira Knightley.Among the five TV series that exist, the evaluation of the version starring Jennifer Ely, Collin Firth produced in 1995 by BBC is very high.In 2001 "Bridget Jones's diary" there are people who got inspiration from this novel.

A. Reaction Point - character

• The name of the hero is Elizabeth · Bennett.She is the second daughter of five sisters.She bargains love with a hard-hearted man, Fitzwilliam D'Arcy, who moves next door.
• At first, the place where very bad guys are attracted to each other is very interesting.As the story progresses, Darcy's mind and personality also change.There are many characters, but each has its personality.

B. Reaction Point - setting

• the time, place and/or situation in which a story takes place 
• British girls of the middle class of those days were happiest to be married. At that time it was an era where women can not work, so the biggest job of parents with girls' children was to get married. Moreover, I had to find a man with money as much as possible for them to be happy.
• I thought that the woman at the time was very sorry for herself not having the right to decide his future.I can not do the job I want to do, and it is impossible to think that you may not be able to marry a person you like.

C. Reaction Point - denouement

• There is a big difference in the class between the two, and relatives of Darcy oppose marriage. But to the opposite, they further strengthen their bonds. Ultimately we will marry by Darcy's proposal.
• It was a very arrogant and selfish Darcy, but in reality it was a person full of kindness.I thought what would happen with only the passing, but I think that they were happy to be able to marry.

D. My General Opinion
I have read this story with books and I have seen it in the movies.If it is a book it is very long that if you are not a person who likes a reasonable book it is recommended to watch a movie.
It is a story that understands UK era background of the time, the appearance of home and love feeling very well.Two love lovers who will pass each other are very harassing and exciting, so please read them.
